Secret Ohio: Clifton Garden Cabin

This cozy, two-level cabin within walking distance of the iconic Clifton Mill offers a stay that’s part home and part garden.

The Historic Clifton Mill has drawn travelers to the village of Clifton for generations now, but many of them don’t realize there’s a cozy bed-and-breakfast less than a five-minute walk away from the famous landmark. Since 2011, the Clifton Garden Cabin has been a homey getaway for hikers and tourists drawn to the area by the mill as well as nearby Yellow Springs. Ken Hensley, who owns the cabin with his husband Rob, wanted to provide overnight lodging that was part home and part garden. The two-level cabin has a front porch, a full kitchen and an upstairs library and game room. In the backyard, guests find a collection of plants and flowers that change with the seasons. “I’m a gardener, I love gardening,” Hensley says. “Being able to have a yard with a garden really brought us here. And starting the bed-and-breakfast, I’ve loved intermingling with people from here and there and everywhere.” 8 Clinton St., Clifton 45316, 937/769-5040, cliftongardencabin.com
