Pet Miniature Horses at the Rutherford B. Hayes Home This Fall

Miniature horses are coming to Spiegel Grove at the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums in Fremont Oct. 13. From noon to 1 p.m. visitors can see, brush and pet the horses for a calming, wellness experience. The horses will be supplied by Mini Wish Equine Wellness, an Arcadia organization that brings miniature horses into the community to create opportunities for connection and interaction.

The miniature horses Whiskey and Chase will be in a designated area on the grounds during Spiegel Grove Stroll, a walking club that meets outside the Hayes home each Tuesday. (This year’s walking season runs through Oct. 27.) Walking times are 8 to 9 a.m., noon to 1 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. The trails are paved and dog friendly, but visitors with dogs are asked to keep them outside of the designated space for the horses. 

This free experience is part of a larger community initiative to bring together wellness and connection on the 25-acre wooded estate and Victorian mansion, the former home of 19th U.S. President Rutherford B. Hayes and First Lady Lucy Hayes.
