Race With the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile at the Franksgiving Day 5K in Canton

Spend the morning with the iconic Oscar Mayer Wienermobile at the family-friendly Franksgiving 5K, back for its second year Nov. 14. The hot dog on wheels will lead the race set to kick-off at 9:30 a.m. at downtown Canton’s Centennial Plaza. Participants receive a shirt, unique hot-dog-themed finisher’s medal and a hot dog after the race.

Suited for experienced runners and casual walkers alike, participants can choose the team of their favorite condiment (mustard, ketchup or onion) and compete for the lowest average time.

“This is a chance for everyone to celebrate our unique holiday of Franksgiving, which is a few weeks before Thanksgiving,” Jim Chaney, executive director of Run to You Racing, said in an Oct. 14 press release announcing the 5K event.

For the little ones, the free Red Hot Tot Trot is a 0.3 mile loop for those under 12 starting at 9:15 a.m. before the main race. Following the 5K, participants and spectators can enjoy hot dogs, chips, drinks and entertainment. Be sure to take a photo with the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.

Stay after for the wiener dog race at 11 a.m. at Centennial Plaza. The canine participants will receive a mini race bib and a small doggie gift.

The event supports Run to You Racing, a charity rooted in promoting healthy lifestyles in Stark County and the surrounding area through running events.

Registration ends Nov. 13. Tickets starts at $35. For more information and to register, visit runsignup.com/franksgiving5k.
