Book a Stay at These Mirrored Cabins in the Hocking Hills

Immerse yourself in the tranquility of southeast Ohio’s Hocking Hills region with a getaway to this cabin designed to reflect nature — literally.

A stay in southeast Ohio’s Hocking Hills region offers the chance to unplug and immerse yourself in the serenity of nature. There are plenty of options when it comes to accommodations, but Daniel and Casey Judge’s unique overnight experience — found under the name Reflections Hocking Hills — provides the opportunity to get some peace and quiet while blending into the scenery for which the area is known.

Nestled on 17 acres in New Plymouth, the Judge’s two rectangular cabins — named Flora and Fauna — have mirrored exteriors on three sides. The design choice makes for a fascinating and intriguing option when it comes to getting away from the world for a while. (The fourth side is the back entrance to the cabin, with wood cladding and a mirrored door.)

“When we saw those pictures of how they reflect nature, it really felt like the ideal fit for Hocking Hills given the setting,” Daniel Judge says. “It was kind of one of those ideas where you couldn’t get it out of your mind once you saw it.”

Opened in 2024, the Flora and Fauna cabins are the first of their kind in Ohio and make a great spot for those looking for a quiet solo getaway or a romantic weekend. Floor-to-ceiling windows on the interior allow guests to wake up to views of the surrounding forest, providing a peaceful start to each day.

Flora and Fauna each feature one bedroom and bathroom each, as well as a private outdoor hot tub, barrel sauna, grill and firepit with seating for when it’s time to gather and roast s’mores under the stars. Each cabin also has a small kitchen area with a coffeemaker, microwave and dishware. When the urge to explore hits, the cabins are a short distance from places to zip line, fish, swim, rock climb and hike. (There’s even a private hiking trail on the property for those who don’t want to venture out too far.)

“They’re places where people can go to sort of disconnect from the world, disconnect from stress,” Daniel Judge says. “Then pivot to focusing on connecting with whatever they are there to connect with.”
