Sauder Village Admission $3 for 50th Birthday Celebration

The 1976-era pricing is just one way the living-history attraction in Archbold is marking its milestone during a June 14 celebration featuring interactive experiences and family-friendly entertainment.

For half a century, Sauder Village has been a destination for families, school field trips, and tourists to take a walk-through history. Ohio’s largest living-history museum is celebrating the milestone with a lively birthday party June 14.

“This is a place that every generation can enjoy. And it’s an opportunity to slow down and spend time together,” Andi Erbskorn, director of marketing and development for Sauder Village, said in a May 29 press release.

Opened in 1976, Sauder Village is dedicated to preserving the history of everyday rural life and highlighting the craftsmanship and ingenuity of northwest Ohio’s early settlers. The 156 acres serve as an interactive, living-history village where visitors can learn about about the artisanal and agricultural practices of Ohio’s early settlers

The June 14 family-friendly celebration at Sauder Village will highlight the earlier years of the museum’s operations and feature the work of artisans, the Erie Express train, horse-drawn trolley rides, make-and-take crafts. Admission for the day is just $3 admission, the same price as when Sauder Village opened in 1976.

The Barn Restaurant at Sauder Village will operate 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on June 14 in honor of the occasion. Each adult meal purchased will also include one child’s meal for just 50 cents, another homage to 1976-era pricing. Or stop by the Doughbox Bakery from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to buy a drink and receive a doughnut for just 50 cents.

“Sauder Village is already a fun, unique spot,” Erbskorn said in the press release, “but there’s going to be an even more festive atmosphere during our 50th birthday. It’ll be a great day for families of all ages.”
