Hear Spirited Tales from America’s 250 Years

This lantern walk at President Rutherford B. Hayes’ Fremont estate covers a range of ghostly and supernatural legends from throughout our nation’s history.

Walk the grounds of our 19th president’s estate by lantern light and hear tales of ghosts, legends and other supernatural happenings from throughout the history of the United States during Spirit Stories at Spiegel Grove.

Lantern tours are offered Oct. 30 from 7 to 10 p.m., with the last group leaving at 9 p.m. Tours last about an hour and depart every 10 minutes. At each stop along the trek, participants learn about a different supernatural tale or legend tied to our nation since its 1776 founding in celebration of America’s 250th birthday.

Don’t worry, if the evening’s ghostly tales give you too much of a chill, there is a campfire to warm up by as well as popcorn, apple cider and hot chocolate to enjoy.

Admission is $15 for nonmembers and $10 for museum members. Tickets can be purchased in advance online, and any remaining tickets will be sold the day of the event at the museum’s front desk.

Spiegel Grove is the home of the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums, our nation’s first presidential library and the forerunner to presidential libraries as we know them today. The wooded estate also contains the home where the president and first lady once lived as well as their gravesites.
