5 Events for Dogs and Their Owners This Fall

Bring your furry, four-legged family members to these great happenings from baseball games to parades.

Our pets are just as much a member of the family as everyone else, and this season there are plenty of ways to bring them out to enjoy the fall season right alongside us. From baseball games that invite dogs to spend a day at the ballpark, to local events that support animal-focused causes, bring your pup to enjoy these five great events that provide plenty of fun as the leaves begin to change.

Woofstock | Sept. 7
Head to the Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field in Chagrin Falls for this event where dogs are the stars of the show. The day kicks off with live music and the first of the dock-diving demonstrations, where pups can hop into the water in support of local rescue animals. Throughout the rest of the event, enjoy the Woofstock Ramble in support of Rescue Village, a costume contest, dog adoptions and a raffle.

Purchase a ticket for both you and your pup and enjoy a baseball game between the Mud Hounds, who will be wearing special jerseys for the occasion, and the Louisville Bats. Plus, dog ticket ($8 each) proceeds go to the Toledo Humane Society and Lucas County Canine Care and Control.

Bark in the Park | Sept. 18
Enjoy a day at Great American Ball Park with the Cincinnati Reds during the final Bark in the Park of the season. Before the game, browse the pet expo, snap cute photo ops and even visit with dogs available for adoption. Then, it’s time to cheer on the Reds alongside your furry best friend as the team takes on the Chicago Cubs.

Marietta Main Street Dachshund Derby | Sept. 20
What could be more fun than the sight of dachshunds parading through the streets of the Northwest Territory’s first permanent settlement? Spend the day in downtown Marietta for the annual Dachshund Derby and see costumed pooches parade from the Armory to the gazebo at Muskingum Park. Then, head to the Armory Lawn for vendors, dachshund races and other fun contests for your four-legged friend.

Spooky Pooch Parade (courtesy of Lakewood Alive)
Spooky Pooch Parade | Oct. 11
This annual event from Lakewood Alive and held at Madison Park in Lakewood celebrates Halloween in style. The festivities begin at 12:30 p.m. and include fun for humans and pets alike, such as pumpkin painting and vendor tents for pet-focused goods and local businesses. Then, at 2 p.m., the parade along Madison Avenue steps off, letting owners and their pets strut their stuff and show off their creative outfits prior to the costume contest, which has winners in five categories including of course, spookiest pooch.
