6 Lake Erie Festivals to Enjoy this Summer

Take to the shore this summer with these great festivals in Lake Erie towns and islands that celebrate life on the water.

Spend this summer on island time with these six festivals dotting our Great Lake’s shore. Whether you’re listening to tunes from country and honky tonk band The Shootouts, perusing colorful concrete displays at Vermilion’s Victory Park or enjoying an inaugural gathering all about pirates, these hot-weather hangs are good contenders for filling your next few weeks on the calendar.

Island Fest | July 17-19
Each year, this get-together held at Kelleys Island’s Memorial Park draws large crowds for a weekend full of food, fireworks and live music. Annual traditions like the Friday and Saturday night street dances, as well as the Saturday morning parade, remain on the schedule this year. The theme for 2026 is “The Pursuit of Happiness Starts Here!” and visitors are encouraged to deck themselves out in red, white and blue for a belated celebration of America’s 250th birthday. kelleysislandchamber.com

Visitors can expect three days of shopping from local vendors and performances by high-octane band Pirates Creed, folk-rock group Wakefire and the kid-friendly Mermaid Echo. Enjoy all things pirate with Renaissance-style reenactors, and don’t leave before grabbing some grub from local food stands and trucks. portclintonpiratefest.com

Celebrating a decade in operation last year, the festival typically invites over 40 artists to show off stunning chalk illustrations, and offers opportunities for visitors to leave their mark as well. Make sure to head downtown afterward for a bounty of small businesses and unique local bites. mainstreetvermilion.org
