Walkie Talkie Espresso & Coffee, Canton

This adorable orange and white shop in the city’s Logan neighborhood serves delicious coffee along with locally made scones and cookies.

Lindsey King launched Walkie Talkie Espresso & Coffee in 2019, aiming to supply good vibes and great coffee in the city of Canton’s Logan neighborhood.

“We really want to be a coffee shop that serves coffee with heart — heart that encapsulates kindness, passion and neighborly community,” says co-owner John King. “That plays out by how we source our ingredients, how we treat our customers and employees.”

The orange and white building along 15th Street, about a five-minute drive from the Pro Football Hall of Fame, serves as an inviting backdrop for the Kings’ lineup of iced and hot coffee drinks, all of which are made using beans sourced from Heart Roasters in Portland, Oregon.

The lineup of tasty lattes, with flavors ranging from vanilla to habanero, are made with milk from Hartzler Family Dairy in Wooster. Kids options such as chocolate and white milks and non-coffee choices like hot chocolate and tea are also offered. Canton’s Heritage Bread Co. makes the honey lavender scones and rye chocolate chip cookies.

Customer favorites include the Cinnabrew, crafted using a house-made cinnamon cereal syrup and vanilla oat milk. Seasonal drinks include autumn’s Yammertime that packs a sweet-potato-pie punch. Don’t overlook the drip coffee either.

“We make strong coffee, but it’s not bitter,” King says. “It’s always very sweet and very drinkable. You’ll take a sip, and then it’s gone.”
