Step Back in Time at the Fall Steam Festival

The Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum in Sugarcreek invites visitors for two days of steam engines and other vintage attractions on Sept. 26 and 27.

All aboard, the Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum once again welcomes visitors to Ohio’s Amish Country for its Fall Steam Festival on Sept. 26 and 27. Families can step back in time for a day full of trains and other vintage machinery aw well as other old-school demonstrations during this annual fall tradition.

Located in rural Sugarcreek, the museum and its 18-stall roundhouse boast the designation of being the largest privately owned collection of steam locomotives in the United States. The Fall Steam Festival invites attendees to check out the trains in the collection as well as other great activities.

The free event offers entertainment throughout the property, and visitors can pay a $5 fee to take a short ride on the roundhouse’s steam locomotive. Food vendors on-site offer a bite to eat and visitors can take a guided tour of the roundhouse for an additional fee.

The Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum is also partnering with Zoar Historic Village to bring in tinsmithing demonstrations. Watch as craftsmen use tools to create tin pieces in a trade that goes back centuries. Those who visit on Saturday will also be treated to live music from a barbershop quartet, as well as vintage baseball games. Across three matchups on Saturday, watch America’s pastime played the old-fashioned way by a local Amish team as well as The Iron Horses of the Erie Railroad from Dayton and the Canal Fulton Mules Vintage Base Ball Club.
