River Otters Eno and Sikwa Focus of New Otter Cam

The Boonshoft Museum of Discovery in Dayton launches 24/7 webcam so fans can keep track of the center’s playful residents.

Who doesn’t want more river otter content? The Boonshoft Museum of Discovery in Dayton added to our fascination with the adorable mammals by way of its new 24/7 webcam that is focused on its pair of playful North American river otter siblings, Eno and Sikwa.

The otters are usually most active during daytime hours, but you can check in on them anytime at boonshoft.org/otter-cam. Eno and Sikwa, the stars of the stream, arrived at the museum in 2017 from the Oakland Zoo. The pair, who recently celebrated their 10th birthdays, are known for their playful and energetic personalities.

Otter Cam viewers can expect to find the pair swimming, splashing and wrestling together or expanding their horizons with enrichment toys, like Eno’s favorite: pool rings. The stream also captures feeding times and other daily activities in their habitat.

The otters are most active between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and again from 3 to 5 p.m., which coincides with their morning and afternoon feedings. The pair dine three times a day on a diet that includes trout, salmon, shrimp, eggs and fresh fruits and vegetables.

Those who want to see the pair in person can do so with a visit to the museum’s Discovery Zoo, which is included with regular museum admission. Otter talks are offered daily at 4 p.m., during which staff members provide feeding demonstrations and share information about the otters’ behavior.
