Homestead Furniture Set to Redesign The Inn at Honey Run’s Honeycomb Rooms

The iconic hillside rooms at this resort in Millersburg are getting a complete makeover with the help of Mount Hope-based Homestead Furniture.

The Inn at Honey Run has long been an Ohio Amish Country favorite, thanks in part to its 12 private-entry Honeycomb rooms tucked into a serene hillside. Opened in 1988, these unique rooms are now getting a makeover with the help of Mount Hope-based Homestead Furniture, which crafts custom, heirloom-grade pieces.

The project, dubbed the Honeycomb Homecoming, is set to be completed for overnight stays starting in early 2026. Each of the rooms will feature new interiors behind their well-landscaped entryways, and no two rooms will look the same. Each will have a unique floor plan and reflect different historical, artistic and architectural themes. Homestead Furniture is involved in each step, from the concept and design stage to crafting the furniture for each room to installing it all.

“Homestead Furniture has a long history and reputation for their high-quality furniture,” Jason Nies, owner of The Inn at Honey Run, said in an August 26, 2025, press release. “After recently touring their showroom, I was amazed by their furniture’s design range. We are providing them with a blank canvas, and it will be a treat for our guests to experience the brand new Honeycombs.”

This year also marks the 35th anniversary of Homestead Furniture, a third-generation, family-owned business known for its quality furniture and interior furnishings. (In 2023, the furniture-maker partnered with The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City to create high-end, limited-edition furniture pieces inspired by famous paintings.)

“This partnership pairs two of Holmes County’s long-standing and well-renowned businesses in a way that will benefit everyone who stays the night in the new Honeycombs,” LaVern Hershberger, vice president of Homestead Furniture, said in the August 26, 2025, press release. “Homestead’s involvement with this project will be a highlight for our company.”

The Inn at Honey Run is an adult-only resort with 42 guest rooms, cottages and, of course, the Honeycombs. The inn also features Tarragon, an award-winning eatery and the Holmes County Open Air Art Museum. Updates on the completion date for the Honeycomb Homecoming project will be shared online via The Inn at Honey Run’s social media and website.
