Experience the Fall Steam Festival at the Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum

Hear the authentic whistle of a steam locomotive through the valleys of Amish Country at the Fall Steam Festival: Trains, Tractors and Traditions Sept. 25 and 26. The two-day festival at Sugarcreek’s Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum features steam-powered machines, a vintage baseball game Saturday, live entertainment and hot dogs from JD’s Hot Dogs.

Throughout the weekend, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors can see steam tractors and belt-driven machinery up-close, including a working shingle mill. Learn about the history of steam power in communities across America and hear from steam tractor operators.

Climb aboard the museum’s steam locomotive for a train ride on the grounds for $6 per person. Other activities include vintage self-propelled handcar rides, scale steam locomotive rides, guided museum tours and a barbershop quartet from the Akron Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society.

Explore the museum’s 115-foot turntable and fully operational 18-stall brick roundhouse, where restoration specialists work to preserve historic railroad equipment. The museum’s collection includes locomotives, railroad cars, tools and machinery.
