‘Quilts 2026’ Opens at Lake Metroparks Farmpark

The monthlong exhibition displays quilts featuring detailed patterns, bold colors and personal stories that have been stitched into cherished works of art.

Each year, Lake Metroparks Farmpark highlights the talented artistry of both traditional and contemporary quilter. This tradition continues with an exhibition of nearly 200 quilts that opens March 27 and runs through April 26 (open daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

All quilts in the show are made by artists from Ohio and neighboring states, and works are judged in categories that include Best of Show, Best Hand Quilting, Best Machine Quilting, Award of Merit and two different Judge’s Choices. Attendees also have a chance to vote for their favorite with the Visitors’ Choice award, which will be announced by April 22.

On April 17 on 18, quilt lovers can shop local vendors and watch live demonstrations featuring the latest tools and techniques to further expand their skills. New for this year is the Quilt Inspiration Series, a collection of free lectures from professionals to help inspire attendees’ creativity and share the art of quilting. No registration or additional fee is required, but the programs occur on select Sundays at 2 p.m. (“Quilts 2026” is included with the regular Lake Metroparks Farmpark admission.)

“Stories in Fabric” (March 29) by Elizabeth Bauman features stories from quilters both past and present, while “Nature Inspired Quilts” (April 12) by Nelly Vileikis details how she created her quilts and how attendees can create their own. “1-2-3 Color My Quilt” (April 19), also hosted by Vileikis, shows visitors the fundamentals of using colors in quilts. “A Feast from the Fragments” (April 26) by Sabastianna Costanzo rounds out the special programming lineup.
