Hearsemania Car Show Brings History to Life

This Lima car show set for June 14 and 15 offers attendees the chance to view a lineup of classic funeral home hearses and other specialty vehicles.

Whether you’re a car fanatic or not, visitors to Hearsemania are sure to enjoy this celebration of life, history and death. This specialized car show rolls into Lima on June 14 and 15 and features hearses from across the country. What is often seen as a dreary symbol will be broken down into a fascinating history lesson that explains the origins of each car. Visitors can learn more about the stories behind these vehicles and even see how they were constructed.

Hearsemania showcases vehicles from as far as California, Arizona and Florida. Located at the S&S/Superior Coach Company, which has been producing specialty cars for over a century, the event is completely free for visitors to enjoy. New models from the Superior Coach Company will be on view, as well as hearses and trolleys that date as far back as the 1800s.

After exploring the lineup of hearses, be sure to browse the local vendors and grab a bite from the local on-site food trucks. Raffle tickets are available to enter for prizes, and tours of the S&S/Superior Coach Company are also available throughout the event for those who want a behind-the-scenes experience.

On June 13, before the car show kicks off, Gals in the Graveyard have planned a tour around the mysterious history of Allen County. There are six stops laid out from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for visitors to stop by and learn of the area’s history. The morning of the tour, two historians will be at the Ward Cemetery for an informational meeting before the self-guided experience continues to locations such as the Allen County Museum, the old Superior Plant on Kibby Street and others.
