The Northern Ohio Railway Museum Begins Operations for the Season

Starting May 24, this museum in the Medina County village of Seville opens for the season, offering tours, trolley rides and more.

For many, trains were a staple of our childhoods, whether it was a collection of figurines, a Thomas and Friends play set or even a little mechanical model that drove around the base of the Christmas tree. Now, the whole family can enjoy a collection of real-life trains together as the Northern Ohio Railway Museum begins operations for 2025.

Located in Seville, just south of Medina, the Northern Ohio Railway Museum is open Saturdays beginning May 24 through Sept. 27. This year also marks the  museum’s 60th anniversary.

More than 40 train cars are on display, spanning streetcars, interurbans and rapid-transit vehicles. This season, on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, visitors can enjoy rides on select vintage cars during their visit, including the circa 1914 Car 12 from the G.C. Kuhlman Car Co. in Cleveland, a 1954 rapid-transit model and others.

Guided walking tours of the museum and its grounds last about 30 minutes and provide visitors a way to learn more about this integral mode of transportation. In addition to exploring the lineup of trains, visitors can watch “The Trolley,” a 46-minute film that is shown hourly and can only be viewed at the museum.

All season long, admission rates on operating days include the walking tour, a chance to watch “The Trolley” and unlimited opportunities to climb aboard the trains that invite visitors aboard for a trip through history.
