See Vintage Vehicles and Motorcycles on Display at Carillon Historical Park

The Dayton Concours d’Elegance returns Sept. 14 to showcase vintage rides and celebrate two notable automobile milestones.

If you’ve ever been curious about the Gem City’s role in the history of American automobile manufacturing, look no further than Dayton’s Concours d’Elegance auto show.

Each year, the city’s Carillon Historical Park hosts a day-long showcase of automotive heritage through a display of vintage automobiles. This year’s event features antique and classic cars, as well as vintage motorcycles gathered on the park’s historic grounds.

Held Sept. 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Dayton Concours d’Elegance has built a reputation as the Midwest’s premier automobile and motorcycle show, where craftsmanship and history meet in one of Ohio’s most industriously significant cities.

The Diamond Jubilee Preview Party precedes the event, taking place the evening of Sept. 13. This celebration leading up to the big day consists of food, drinks, live music and a chance to see the cars before the crowds arrive. Guests can also browse an automotive art pavilion and bid on items in a silent auction.

This year’s event also carries a pair of milestones for the city of Dayton: Chrysler’s centennial and the 150th birthday of Ferdinand Porsche. In 1925, Chrysler was created out of the remains of the Maxwell Motor Co., which had operating plants in Dayton. Some of Chrysler’s iconic models will be on display for attendees to see during the event, as will those of Porsche, whose car designs are still beloved by car enthusiasts 150 years later.

Each vehicle on display, whether restored or preserved in original condition, will be judged across multiple classes for a chance to win awards. Beyond the Concours d’Elegance, Carillon Historical Park will remain open, allowing visitors to explore other examples of Dayton’s place in American innovation.
