Amish Country Inn’s Famous Honeycomb Rooms Get Upgrade

While looking over the rolling hills, one catches secluded patios peeking out of the hillside like something from a J.R.R. Tolkien novel. The Honeycomb rooms at the Inn at Honey Run in Millersburg have been attracting visitors for their unique structure and quiet atmosphere since they were introduced in 1988.

Earlier this summer, the Amish Country travel destination unveiled its newly renovated Honeycomb rooms in partnership with another Holmes County business, Homestead Furniture. The Inn at Honey Run proprietor, Jason Nies, Homestead Furniture director of design Jordan Calame and Homestead Furniture creative director LaVern Hershberger spearheaded the Honeycombs by Homestead project that began in January 2026.

“All 12 rooms have a specific style, like mid-century modern or mission …” Hershberger says. “The goal is that people can experience the different styles, and they might have a favorite, or they want to stay in all 12.”

Each room is furnished with original Homestead pieces that complement its unique theme and style. The airy and bright Seaside Room features soft, light woods seen in the set of chairs, side tables and a dresser. Every detail has been thought out, down to the nautical-inspired drapes.

The most vibrant of the rooms, The Milano Room, is inspired by the Memphis Milano style of the 1980s. This style of design sees primary colors and abstract shapes and is seen in the bright orange accent wall and the playful Jack-and-Jill bistro table and chairs set that features interlocking shapes.

Other room designs include the modern farmhouse inspired, Farmstead Room, the globally grounded Wanderer Room and the quietly luxurious, European-style Edinburgh Room. Each room has QR code where overnight guests can learn about each piece of furniture in the room and how it all comes together in the cohesive style and theme.

An emphasis on unwinding and relaxation is present throughout The Inn at Honey Run property and is especially prevalent in each of the 12 redesigned Honeycomb rooms.

“We really want you to walk in, see the furniture, feel the space and just kind of melt into it,” says designer Jordan Calame.
