5 August Festivals for Art Lovers in Ohio

Downtown Mount Vernon hosts an annual 72-hour creative shindig every August. Four other gatherings dotting our state follow suit with live musicians, arts-and-crafts vendors and children’s entertainment in its parks and city squares.

Salt Fork Arts and Crafts Festival | Aug. 14-16
Shop the oldest arts and crafts festival in our state, held in Cambridge City Park. The creative get-together promises juried artists, an “Ohio made” market tent, pieces by area students and Appalachian heritage work reflective of the region. Listen to live music and performances while stopping by each vendor’s booth and make room afterward for food from local businesses. Visitors are encouraged to try their hand at a few techniques, with ceramics, glassblowing and fabric embellishment being taught over the course of the weekend. saltforkfestival.org

Mount Vernon Music and Arts Festival | Aug. 14-16
Attended by over 15,000 people in 2025, this long-running gathering transforms downtown Mount Vernon into a three-day party. All vehicles are welcome at the America 250 cruise-in; if classic cars aren’t your thing, the streets are lined with food trucks, a kids-focused area and a vendor village. Friday brings evening performances from Phil Dirt & The Dozers and Forever Seger, and Saturday, Six One Five Collective and Preston Cooper take the stage. In addition to Sunday performances, the weekend concludes with opportunities to visit a gallery and flower show. mvmaf.org

Art-a-Palooza | Aug. 15
Spend Saturday at Green’s Boettler Park to see over 60 juried artists exhibiting their work at this event put on by the Green Arts Council. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., street corn, grilled cheese and kettle corn food vendors will be whipping up their specialities; live music from the Canal Street Ramblers runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with One String Short playing from 2-4 p.m. Children can head to an activity tent in the afternoon. cityofgreen.org

Perrysburg Hearts the Arts | Aug. 15-16
Peruse ceramics, painting, jewelry, fiber and glass wares from 100 jury-selected artists along downtown Perrysburg’s Louisiana Avenue and Second Street. Returning customers can shop from familiar favorites, including Allison Greenburg, a ceramicist from Bowling Green, and Margie Matheson, a jewelry maker located in Toledo. Food trucks and live music round out the fun; little ones should check out the Kids Zone, with volunteers offering hands-on art activities and face-painting. theguild.org

ARTFest on Main | Aug. 29
Springboro’s South Main Street will be jam-packed with approximately 100 artisans, a farmer’s market, live entertainment and food and drink vendors during this massive one-day affair. Shop stained glass, paintings, woodworked pieces and mosaic art, among many other media, while enjoying craft beer and cocktails in the city’s DORA. Local brewery Crooked Handle Brewing Co. is this year’s partner. artfestonmain.com
