Cleveland Brewery Trip Planner: West Side

Follow this guide to experience two days of craft brews in The Land.

Once upon a time, you could tell what neighborhood you were in by the beer at the corner bar. Today, those bars are award-winning breweries, and the beer’s better than ever. Ready to try some? Here’s your guide to 48 delicious, hops-fueled hours in Cleveland.

Day 1 | Gordon Square & Ohio City

Morning
Start strong at Brewnuts in Gordon Square, where doughnuts meet craft beer. Yes, some are made with local brews. Afterward, walk it off and take note that you’re near XYZ Tavern and Happy Dog, which will be handy later in the evening.

Afternoon
Just up Detroit Avenue is Saucy Brew Works, known for its inventive beers and equally creative New Haven-style pizzas. Then, head to the Ohio City “brewery district,” the beating heart of Cleveland’s craft beer scene. Pay homage at Great Lakes Brewing Co., the pioneers of Ohio’s brew boom. From there, hop around to Market Garden Brewery, Hansa Brewery and Forest City Brewery, all located just steps away.

Evening
Still thirsty? Nano Brew on West 25th Street offers 25 drafts, local bites and one of the city’s best patios. Bonus: Their kitchen is open until 2 a.m. on weekends.

Day 2 | Downtown & Tremont

Morning
Fuel up at Yours Truly in Playhouse Square. Grab a skillet, some crispy cottage fries and maybe a Bloody Mary if you went hard the night before. Sports in town? Pregame at downtown bars or head to the Muni Lot for some legendary Browns tailgating. Not into sports? Walk to the lakefront for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame or Great Lakes Science Center.

Afternoon
For lunch, hit Noble Beast Brewing Co. They serve beers with flair and a menu to match (think smoked kielbasa corndog). Still going? Walk to Masthead Brewery or Butcher and the Brewer for a few more pours.

Evening
Cross the river to Tremont, a neighborhood packed with charm and cuisine. Try upscale spots like Dante and Fat Cats, or keep it casual at Prosperity Social Club. Wrap up at Hi and Dry Bowling & Beer, where you can drink, bowl and close out the night in style (they are open until 2 a.m. on weekends).

Cleveland Brewery Passport
Want to make it official? Sign up for the Cleveland Brewery Passport, which features more than 40 local breweries. Make a purchase, earn points and win prizes. Start sipping and celebrating Cleveland’s beer scene, one glass at a time.
