4 Ohio Wineries to Visit This Fall

Laurentia Vineyard and Winery | Madison
This scenic Lake County vineyard offers a lodge-like atmosphere and a menu of wines and dishes that change with the seasons. 

Ohio’s Grand River Valley is known for great wines and Laurentia Vineyard and Winery rests in the heart of it, offering a rustic atmosphere reminiscent of a grand lodge. Amy Blackie, co-owner of the winery that opened in 2015, said the combined beauty of the  Grand River Valley and Lake Erie breezes make for a desirable autumn environment.

“We have these wonderful, wooded areas that come to life in the fall,” she says. 

As the change of season approaches, the wine menu also shifts towards introducing heavier reds with seasonal flights and ice wine making appearances. 

Laurentia’s 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon was named the best red wine in Ohio in the Ohio Department of Agriculture’s 2026 Director’s Choice Awards and was selected during a blind tasting. 

The on-site scratch kitchen has a seasonally changing menu that features charcuterie boards, flatbreads, shareable plates and a handful of entrees. 

“We really have something for that person that wants to enjoy something new throughout the year,” Blackie says. 

Furthermore, wine lovers can attend Laurentia Vineyard and Winery’s annual harvest dinner, which brings together a five-course dinner, wine pairings and live music. Once visitors make the trip, Blackie says the beautiful scenery they experience often prompts a return visit.

Sarah’s Vineyard | Cuyahoga Falls
This Summit County winery sits near Blossom Music Center and within northeast Ohio’s Cuyahoga Valley National Park.  

Just across West Steels Corners Road from the entrance to Blossom Music Center and located within Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Sarah’s Vineyard has been welcoming concert attendees, outdoor explorers and those just looking for a relaxing place to hang out since 2007. 

General manager Sarah Altieri says the atmosphere during the fall season is especially alluring, as the Summit County winery is tucked away from city noise and provides an inviting place to spend time as the harvest season arrives each autumn. 

“In the fall, people can walk through the grapevines while the grapes are very ripe and there’s a smell of sugary sweetness in the air,” Altieri says. 

The winery offers an array of red and white wines, as well as appetizers, salads, sandwiches and wood-fired pizzas. During fall, visitors can enjoy a seasonal sweet-and-savory pizza with pear, sprouts and an onion jam. Additionally, those who visit on NFL Sundays can catch the Cleveland Browns game on the TV in the pavilion seating area. 

In addition to the pavilion, Sarah’s Vineyard also has a rustic tasting room, a loft event space and a butterfly garden where patrons can socialize. Altieri says each of the seating options has a unique character to it that is prevalent during the fall.

“We have a tree-lined property, and the color changes are so beautiful,” Altieri says “Our large outdoor covered patio has a three-story fireplace that we light in the fall that just adds to the ambiance as you see the view outside. Rhonemus Cellars | Lancaster
This Fairfield County winery located amid The View Golf Club offers a wine and food menu of robust fall flavors this time of year.  

Whether attending a wine tasting, dining at the on-site restaurant or getting in a round of golf, Rhonemus Cellars, which sits amid The View Golf Club, offers a destination for wine and food fans during autumn. Opened by Barry and Jennifer Rhonemus in 2024, the winery’s vineyard offers scenic views throughout and beyond the course.

The fall foliage completely surrounds the golf course and the location that we chose for the winery is beautiful,” Barry says. “During those crisp fall days, it’s an absolutely stunning setting.”

Rhonemus Cellars’ ever-changing wine list complements the change in seasons too. 

“We have an incredible red wine program, ranging from sweet, semi-dry all the way to some fabulous Bordeaux style-and Burgundy-style dry reds,” Barry adds. “Those wines really lend themselves well to a little heartier culinary menu in the fall.”

Chef Bradley Balch oversees the menu at the on-site Trillium Restaurant. It changes frequently and focuses on the freshest seasonal items. For the fall, dishes lean into more robust flavors, such as a butternut squash soup, a double-cut pork chop and Angus beef steaks.

Additionally, diners can partake in a Chef’s Table event kicking off this fall. One night a month, the menu will spotlight a particular country, offering attendees a curated, six-course meal and wines of that region.

Mirabelle Farm and Vineyard | Ashville
Located a short drive from Columbus and surrounded by rural countryside, this vineyard embraces autumn in multiple ways.  

Located near the rural village of Ashville, Mirabelle Farm and Vineyard sits along an expanse of land that makes for a great autumn visit. As fall takes hold, seasonal wines and beverages that patrons wait for all year make their reappearance. 

“As soon as the weather starts to turn cool, we make mulled wine and it makes it really cozy and festive,” says Emma Alban, owner of Mirabelle Farm and Vineyard. “We also have other fall-themed drinks, including our local orchard’s apple cider wine slushies and other fall cocktails.”

So, grab a fall beverage and a cheese board and take in the rustic atmosphere here that also serves to ignite the fall spirit.

“We turn on our fireplace, which transforms the inside area into an especially inviting place for the fall,” Alban adds.

As part of this celebration of autumn, Mirabelle Farm and Vineyard hosts farm-to-table dinners, like the one Sept. 4 alongside Winchester Farm Exchange. The meal pairs dishes made from fresh and local ingredients with Mirabelle wines. 

Alban says the winery’s rural location just a short drive from Columbus makes it an ideal fall day trip.
