Troyer Market, Millersburg

This inviting, red-roofed store with a porch full of produce offers a taste of the quality meats, cheeses and traditional Amish foods found in the area.

Whether you’re looking for bulk foods, high quality meats and cheeses or canned goods made from family recipes, the rich bounty of Ohio’s Amish Country can be found in the aisles of Troyer Market.

“People come in just for the Amish Country feel and shopping experience — just taking in the sights and sounds,” says Dave Vogt, the store’s manager.

With its bright red roof and assortment of seasonal fruits and vegetables lining the front porch, the market feels welcoming from the moment you arrive. Or as Vogt says, “[The market’s] got great curb appeal,” adding that people frequently tell him they pulled in as they were driving by just based on the store’s welcoming appearance.

Troyer Market opened in 2006, focusing on foods that are high quality and made locally.

“We only choose the highest quality meats and cheeses to put our label on,” Vogt explains. “All the jarred goods are made in Millersburg, right down the street.”

Those goods include the market’s exclusive Amish Wedding line, which features natural foods made with simple ingredients. Products include baby beets, bread-and-butter pickles, salsas, barbecue sauces and a wide variety of jams and jellies.

Keeping with the natural trend, shoppers can grind up their own peanut butter in the market’s bulk foods section as well as pour their own honey and olive oil into containers from self-serve machines.

“It grinds the peanut butter and creates it right in front of your eyes,” Vogt says. “There’s enough oil in peanuts that you don’t have to add anything to it.” 5201 County Rd. 77, Millersburg 44654, 330/893-3786, troyerscountrymarket.com
