Try the Swensons Burger That Puts Thanksgiving on a Bun

Ohioans know that pulling up outside Swensons and turning your vehicle’s headlights on cues a beloved northeast Ohio tradition: a car hop dashes out to take your order. This is the case even during winter as servers carefully cross the parking lots of Ohio’s nearly 20 Swensons locations to deliver favorites like milkshakes, Potato Teezers and the Akron-based chain’s iconic Galley Boy burgers.

The classics on the menu never disappoint, but if you’re the sort of person who seeks out unique creations that feature seasonal flavors, Swensons has a variety of holiday-themed menu items as well. Here’s the rundown of what’s new and what you need to know before you follow the advice on the sign outside each Swensons location: “Lights on for Service.”

Thanksgiving on Bun: It’s the season to pile your plate with plenty of hearty comfort foods, and if you’ve ever wanted to try a holiday feast in burger form, the Thanksgiving Burger (above) does an admirable job. The turkey burger topped with Swiss cheese, stuffing and cranberry mayonnaise is served with a side of Sweet Potato Waffle Fries. Just know that the Thanksgiving on a Bun burger is available only through Dec. 1. Complete your feast with a Pumpkin Milkshake, made with pumpkin pie filling and topped with whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon sugar.

Frozen Treats: Those who say it’s too cold for ice cream in the winter are simply wrong. Holiday flavors take the form of frozen treats at Swensons with the return of its Eggnog Shake and Peppermint Shake. The rich and creamy eggnog shake is topped with whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon sugar, while the refreshing pink peppermint milkshake features crunchy peppermint bits and is also topped with whipped cream. Both shakes are available Dec. 2 through 29.

Spicy and Sweet: Lovers of spicy foods will find a new favorite in Swensons’ Blazin’ Bacon Burger, which appears on menus for a limited time Dec. 2 through 29. This new sandwich stacks a hamburger with bacon strips, bacon jam, bacon aioli (we’re sensing a theme here) pepper jack cheese and jalapeno chips. To sweeten the deal, order the Sweet Potato Waffle Fries, finished off with a dusting of cinnamon sugar and served with a side of marshmallow dip.
