Johnson’s Real Ice Cream Opening Ninth Ohio Shop in Pickerington

Celebrate the newest location of this Ohio-based ice cream chain with an opening night event on May 22.

Johnson’s Real Ice Cream opened along East Main Street in Bexley in 1950. Since its inception, the brand has grown to feature over 60 flavors of ice cream, and expanded to eight central Ohio locations, with a ninth location on its way.

Ice cream fans are invited to an opening night celebration to kick off operations of the the new Hill Road North location in Pickerington on May 22 from 6 to 9 p.m., Those in attendance will be treated to a free single scoop of Johnson’s Real Ice Cream, and the first 50 to arrive will receive a free T-shirt.

The opening is the third for Johnson’s in 2025, which coincides with the 75th anniversary for this fourth-generation family business.

Housed in the former Williamson family Sunoco station, the Pickerington location has been designed to reflect the future of Johnson’s Ice Cream while honoring the past. The space is unique with a rooftop patio and covered outdoor seating available.

“We couldn’t be more excited to bring Johnson’s to Pickerington,” Matt Wilcoxon, fourth-generation owner of Johnson’s Real Ice Cream, said in a May 1, 2025, press release. “The building has a story, our brand has a story and this opening is all about community, memories and great ice cream.”
