3 Incredible Outdoor Dining Experiences in Ohio

These open-air plated dinners are perennial summer favorites. They sell out quickly, so if you’re too late for this year, set a reminder to buy tickets for 2025.

Spice Acres, Brecksville

Chef Ben Bebenroth’s Spice Hospitality Group began holding its signature Plated Landscape dinners in 2006, serving meals in various scenic settings. One location is Spice Acres Farm, which Bebenroth operates as part of Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s farm-leasing program. The dinners held at Spice Acres feature a multi-course meal of seasonal produce from the farm with a selection of wine pairings.

Since 2018, Washington County’s family-owned Witten Farm Market has welcomed diners to enjoy dinners featuring the farm’s produce. Chef Katie Wainright-Tucker, owner of the southeast Ohio-based mobile eatery Big Food Little Kitchen, prepares the meals that are paired with wines. Menu favorites include the farm’s heirloom tomatoes and sweet corn, with guests dining just steps from where their food was grown.

These dining events start at a local winery or brewery and include a trolly tour of four covered bridges in Union County, including the Pottersburg Covered Bridge, where a meal awaits. Lunches feature foods from Marysville’s Amish Heritage Country Market, while dinners are catered by downtown Bellefontaine’s The Syndicate and feature seasonal ingredients from local farmers.
