5 Touring Musicals Coming to Ohio This Summer

From one of our Founding Fathers to the King of Pop to a heartwarming tale of optimism and growing up, grab tickets now for these Broadway productions appearing on stages across our state. 

What if there was a way to transport yourself to another time and place, like a soon-to-be United States on the cusp of its fight for freedom, 19th-century France in the middle of its own battle or a famous 1992 concert tour? All you need is a ticket to one of these touring musicals coming to Ohio this season.

Les Misérables | June 3-8
Follow a tale of love, loss and redemption in this acclaimed show set in 19th-century France. The U.S. tour of “Les Misérables” comes to Toledo’s Stranahan Theater this summer. The show presents the interwoven stories of characters like Jean Valjean, Cosette, Javert and others as France is on the cusp of revolution. Enjoy this timeless tale, as well as favorite numbers like “I Dreamed a Dream” and “One Day More.”

MJ: The Musical | June 24-29
Embrace the talent and legacy of The King of Pop, Michael Jackson, during “MJ: The Musical” at the Schuster Center in Dayton. Alhough there are several notable eras Jackson’s life, this musical centers on his Dangerous World Tour in 1992. Celebrate the music of a legendary artists, while enjoying dazzling costuming and choreography.

Hamilton | July 8-20
This hit musical “Hamilton” has captured the hearts of Broadway fans old and new since its inception and is once again on tour, making a summer stop in Columbus this season. Hitting the Ohio Theatre stage in July, the show follows the events leading up to the duel between Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr, including the whirlwind romance between Hamilton and Elizabeth Schuyler.

Kimberly Akimbo | July 15-Aug. 3
See this five-time Tony Award-winning musical at Connor Palace in Cleveland this summer. The show follows the story of 16-year-old Kimberly as her family moves to New Jersey, navigating her health, family issues and even a first crush in this hilariously heartwarming new show that will bring out the optimist in all of us.

Beetlejuice The Musical | Aug. 12-17
A troubled teen, a striped-suit-clad ghost and a giant snake don’t seem to have much in common on the surface, but their stories tie together in a hilariously haunting fashion at KeyBank State Theatre in Cleveland’s this season. Based on the 1988 film of the same name, the musical version of the tale includes songs like “Say My Name” and “The Whole Being Dead Thing.”
