Ditch the Debt
Students and parents are looking for ways to minimize or avoid borrowing for college.

Of the 20 million Americans who attend college each year, close to 12 million — or 60 percent — borrow annually to cover costs, according to the
Chronicle of Higher Education. As college tuition continues to rise, the amount of debt grows. In fact, the average amount of student loan debt for the Class of 2011 was $26,600, a 5 percent increase from the previous year.
